In 1987, President Ronald Reagan stood in the heart of this divided German city and urged Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall!" More than 20 years later, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg journeyed here to issue a challenge to the 18,650 attendees of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) meeting held Oct. 4-8.
