With public concern mounting over H1N1, experts are talking about how to prepare communities, hospitals, employers, schools, and parents. ADVANCE's Michael Gibbons talks with public health preparedness experts about how hospitals can implement sure staffing plans, create alternate locations for triage and flu screenings, and have vaccine available for staff. 




Our experts:


Jo Lynn Montgomery, PhD, MPH, is a communicable disease epidemiologist in the Office of Public Health Practice. She serves as Director for the Michigan Center for Public Health Preparedness, training state and local health department staff in epidemiology and disease surveillance. Dr. Montgomery is also the founder of the Public Health Action Support Team (PHAST). Formerly, she was with the Michigan Department of Community Health where she worked with HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, rabies, West Nile virus, anthrax, and many other communicable diseases.

Frank G. Rando, PA, RCP, CRT, CVT, EMT-P, CHMS, CDHSI, RHSO, RSM, is an RT, physician assistant and a paramedic who specializes in disaster preparedness. He is affiliated with Homeland Security Programs and the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center-Arizona Emergency Medicine Research Center.
