Conference Connection: European Respiratory Society

In 1987, President Ronald Reagan stood in the heart of this divided German city and urged Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall!" More than 20 years later, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg journeyed here to issue a challenge to the 18,650 attendees of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) meeting held Oct. 4-8. His message: "Stop smoking!"
ADVANCE's Shawn Proctor traveled to Berlin to capture the sights and sounds of this conference--the largest respiratory meeting in history.
Read his daily impressions and an exclusive interview with ERS President Leonardo Fabbri, MD, in the ADVANCE Perspective: Respiratory Therapy blog.
Read the conference wrap-up detailing Bloomberg's plan to expand the stop smoking message to the world.
Check back in mid-November for more photos from this international event.
